For those looking to buy a pet why not help rescue an animal at Foal Farm Rescue Centre, Biggin Hill.

Also for the best prices for pet prescription medicines, it's worth looking at PetMeds.co.uk

I'll be adding all the local Vet services I can find here, but please do leave any you recommend on the comments section below to help me build a comprehensive list.

one of my neighbours has unfortunatley become allergic to her adorable tortishell cat; we cant take her as its too 'close to home' (5 doors down!) but does anyone else?

Hello Danny

It turns out that Rolo and Monty have some new brothers and sisters in Tunbridge Wells. (You can make the acquaintance of Rolo and Monty here: http://helenedith.wordpress.com/category/cats/our-cats/)

My other half informs me that there are three spotty kittens in the household where we got Rolo and Monty, so it looks like their mother, who is believed to be half Bengal, didn't get spayed after all.

We're finding that our two are not turning into lap cats. Rolo is affectionate and loves a cuddle provided that you stand up while you cuddle him. Monty is more his own cat and has places to go and things to see to - but he usually comes and supervises my shower from the side of the tub in the morning! He's only fallen in once and apparently doesn't want to get that close to water again, as he's careful not to overbalance from his perch:-)

If you think you might be interested in any of Measles' latest progeny, we can take this discussion to email and I'll get my other half to find out the exact ages and what sex these kittens are believed to be.

Hi Helen

I think 'kitten season' (for want of a better term) starts kind of nowish, it's been about a year since my sister got her to terrible (or terrific) tom's, although it DOES seem i'm a bit too early.

They will have to be YOUNG kittens too, so Ozzy (my current cat) can hide by getting on the sofa/chair/whatever where the kitten can't reach her, until she gets used to the idea and/or a pecking order is established.

Poor old Oz Woz doesn't much like other cats, she's not violent, she's scared of them. However, It's reaching the stage where I NEED another cat, for my own mental health. I suffer from depression, and I know from past experience quite how badly loosing a cat affects me. Also my sisters two tom cats are cute as all hell and I'm very jealous ;-)

Cheers for the advice Helen, I appreciate it

Danny, it does make sense, provided that you old cat won't be stressed out by the kitten.

http://www.foalfarm.org.uk/ may have kittens, although their website currently indicates that they only have adult cats to rehome. It's certainly worth enquiring there.

Rolo and Monty came from Tunbridge Wells from a family member. I haven't heard whether there have been any more kittens in the household or whether all of the cats are now spayed.

You might need to wait until the weather warms up a bit because apparently cats have a breeding season and winter isn't it!

Hi all

Does anyone know of any kittens that are free (Or very cheap) to a loving home in Beckenham?

My old girl is getting old and sick and I want a young friend to ease the inevitable hearache when she goes.

I hope that doesn't sound callous, but i've been their once before, and it was horrible, it would have been much easier to adjust if i'd had another cat to love. Does that make any sense?

Cheers

Hello, I'm Helen, and I've got two young cats.

Rolo is the more glamorous of the two, while Monty is the clever one.

You're right Marie, my cat Ozzy, HATES my laptop, I think she thinks it takes up my lap when she could be on it.
