It has been possible from day one to create a public or private group on this website and I'm going to attempt to bring that localisation we love on here so much even smaller. What I'm going to launch is a road by road, street by street, avenue by avenue, close by close etc group system and I'm looking for an individual from each road to run on their own or with neighbours their own street/road etc group.
Marvelous for arranging street parties, neighbourhood watch, just even getting to know your neighbours a little better I hope you all buy into this and come forward. I'll add more details as we go along and help those first few through the door.
I think you should keep them private groups and invite in known neighbours and don't state which number you live in etc unless you know everyone on your group's list, but you can do quite a lot in the group pages from setting up separate discussions, adding text, pics and videos, comments and even bringing in feeds from outside sources.
I've been contacted by residents looking for this type of opportunity and I'm thrilled to help. If you are setting up a Diamond Jubilee or Olympics street party then why not use the site and your own group as a hub to message each other or all members of the group in one go and be able to arrange everything much easier.
I of course am quite happy to help and give guidance.
So what do people think?
I've set up Clock House Road as the first, but why not message me or add your road and street etc here and let's get even more neighbourly online!

Permalink Reply by Jon Clarke on September 17, 2012 at 14:56 It's verging on Autumn so why not start up a private road group on here and invite neighbours to it so you can share your road/street/avenue/close etc info, issues, events, snow friends, book clubs, or whatever you have. It's a great way to get to know your neighbours. If your road doesn't have a group already then you can set one up for free. Make it private, then you can accept into it only your real neighbours and keep things to yourselves as much as you like.
